Who We Teach
High School Students (15-17)
In Texas, getting your license is a major milestone, but it comes with responsibility. Our Teen Programs are designed to take you from the classroom to the road with confidence. Using a state-approved curriculum, we focus on the "Big Three" of teen safety: hazard perception, speed management, and distracted driving prevention.
Young Adults (18-24)
Ages 18–24 Life moves fast in Houston—don’t let a lack of a license hold you back. Whether you’re heading to campus at UH or commuting to a new job, we provide the most efficient path to getting you behind the wheel. Under Texas law, adults in this age group require a specific 6-hour educational course, and we’ve designed ours to be as streamlined and stress-free as possible
Adults (25+)
Whether you’ve relied on METRO and rideshares for years or you’re just now ready to conquer highway 288, we’re here to help you cross the finish line. We specialize in working with adult learners who are starting their driving journey a little later in life. There’s no judgment here—just professional, patient instruction designed to turn "driving anxiety" into "driving confidence."

Teens can start the classroom portion at age 14, but they must be 15 and have a Learner Permit from the DPS before they can get behind the wheel.

Technically, no. However, most adults over 25 choose to take our 6-hour course anyway because it allows you to skip the written test at the DPS and gives you the confidence to pass your road test on the first try.

You can use your own vehicle (must have current insurance, registration, and pass a safety check). Click here for a list of Texas vehicle requirements.
Monroy Driving School vehicles are available to adults (18+) and eligible teen students for an additional fee.

Yes. To legally practice "Behind-the-Wheel" on Texas roads, you must have a valid Texas Learner License (Permit) or a B-Restriction Driver License. You must have this physical card (or the temporary paper version with your picture) on you for every single lesson.
